Homeowners insurance may reimburse mold assessment when the mold results from a covered loss and your policy includes coverage for the resulting mold damage. A covered loss means damage caused by an event your insurance policy covers. Your policy’s exclusions, limits, and deductible affect what your insurer may pay. Miami Mold Assessment provides mold assessments and clearance testing throughout Miami-Dade County. We also provide documentation for the services we perform, which you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement consideration.

Can Insurance Reimburse a Mold Assessment?

Insurance may reimburse mold assessment when the mold develops because of damage covered by your policy. For example, mold following a sudden, accidental burst pipe may qualify if your policy covers that water damage and the resulting mold.

The cause of the damage and your policy’s mold coverage both matter. Some policies exclude mold-related claims, while others provide limited coverage. Ask your insurer to confirm how your policy applies to your situation. Florida homeowners insurance guide.

Even when coverage applies, the amount available for mold-related work may have a separate limit. Review your policy and any endorsements—changes or additions to your coverage—with your insurance agent or company. Florida guidance on mold coverage and endorsements.

What Should You Ask Your Insurance Company?

Before assuming your mold expenses will be reimbursed, ask:

    • Is the damage that led to the mold covered under my policy?
    • Does my policy cover the assessment and sampling expenses?
    • What mold coverage limits, exclusions, and deductible apply?
    • Are assessment, laboratory testing, or post-remediation clearance testing covered for this claim?
    • What documentation or inspections do you require?

Your insurer reviews the claim and determines coverage. Share any service or reporting requirements with us before scheduling so we can confirm what we can provide.

Documentation We Provide for Your Mold Claim

The documents we provide depend on the services you book:

    • Mold assessment: Assessment report, laboratory results, remediation protocol, photos, and an itemized invoice.
    • Post-remediation clearance testing: Laboratory results and a written clearance report when this separate service is booked.

We provide these documents to you so you can submit them to your insurance company. You handle the claim and communications with your insurer.

Miami Mold Assessment provides assessment and documentation only. Miami Mold Authority is our parent company; any remediation is performed by another contractor. Clearance testing is provided when another company performs the remediation.

    Payment and Insurance Reimbursement

You pay Miami Mold Assessment directly for the agreed services. You can then submit your invoice and supporting documentation to your insurer for reimbursement consideration.

    • Residential assessment: Packages start at $389 and include three samples. Each additional sample is $75. Payment is due upon arrival.
    • Commercial properties: Contact us for a property-specific quote.

Providing documentation does not guarantee reimbursement. Your insurer determines whether the expenses are covered and how much is payable under your policy.
